Amon Amarth
Throughout the entire festival run, Amon Amarth consistently pulled one of the biggest crowds on the side stage. No surprise there, who wouldn’t want to witness this battle?
My discovery of Amon Amarth came a few years ago when I was still new to concert photography. Back then, more time was spent browsing for inspiration rather than actually shooting. I had joined a group on Facebook called Concert photographers around the world and it suddenly exposed me to bands from across the pond that appeared to have unparalleled stage presence. Amon Amarth was one of those. Hair flips, smoke blasts, vocalist Johan Hegg supping from a drinking horn. Not to mention the iconic Viking ship. I had to shoot them.
